White Pine - Windswept pine trees standing on a rocky lake shore.
A. J. Casson's version of the 'pine tree/s overlooking the landscape' setting characteristic of the Northern wilderness of Canada, that is frequently featured in the paintings of the members of the Group of Seven.
Casson was the youngest member of the group, an influential art movement of Canadian landscape painters from 1920-33. He joined the original seven members in 1926.
His painting style is characterized by clear colors and backgrounds, he's best known for his depictions of landscapes and villages of southern Ontario.
