Description
The Edmund Fitzgerald - deck and superstructure of the ship - by Edmund Lewandowski.
The SS Edmund Fitzgerald was an American freighter that sunk during a storm with her entire crew of 29 men on Lake Superior November 10, 1975, 17 miles north-northwest of Whitefish Point, Michigan.
Edmund Daniel Lewandowski (1914 – 1998) was a leading American Precisionist painter, printmaker and muralist known for his images of industrial, urban and architectural subject matter. His ultrarealistic works painted in watercolor, gouache, or oil range from early farmscapes to industrial scenes and marine subjects, a variety that reflects the artist’s constant quest for aesthetic evolution.
