Artist's Description
Starling Co. - original artwork from the 'Runaway Houses' series by illustrator and writer Moira Risen.
'Peaceful summer day on the North American prairie: never-ending golden grassland, white clouds on the blue sky, a bison bull, a flock of fluttering starlings...and a typical yellow painted New York townhouse from the early 1900s with fire escape and flats over an antique book shop. I know, not exactly what you’d expect… :-)
This image is one of the 12 pieces from my collection titled Runaway Houses. The series portrays imaginary old buildings in different historic architectural styles from all around the world - but instead of their original urban environment they are placed in a natural setting that is typical in the neighborhood of their place of origin. The series was inspired by one of my favorite books from my childhood, a story of Norwegian writer Tor Age Bringsvaerd about an old house that is rescued by birds from demolition.'
