Description
Opera poster for Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini - from the minimalist opera poster series by illustrator and writer Moira Risen - a perfect gift for opera fans.
'Madama Butterfly tells the story of a young, naive geisha named Cio-Cio San (butterfly in Japanese) who marries Pinkerton, a US Navy Lieutenant at the beginning of the 1900s in Nagasaki, Japan. Pinkerton considers their marriage a comfortable 'short term lease' and betrays her love and commitment by leaving her and marrying another woman.
The sheet music on the bottom of the poster is from Butterfly's beautiful soprano aria 'Un bel di vedremo'.
This poster is part of my continuously augmented opera-themed poster collection featuring the works of Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Wagner, Rossini and other great composers. '
All pieces are available as high quality framed, acrylic, metal or canvas print in different sizes.
