Description
Lake O'Hara, British Columbia, Canada - Scenic Northern landscape around the turquoise lake with majestic mountain peaks and vibrant hues.
James Edward Hervey MacDonald was one of the founding members of the Group of Seven, an influential art movement of Canadian landscape painters from 1920-33. He was also a leading graphic designer, a calligrapher and a poet, his design work was strongly influenced by Arts and Crafts designers, especially William Morris. His painting style is characterized by a vigorous brushwork and a richer command of color and pigment than any other artists of the Group of Seven. In intensity and freshness of execution his sketches show a quality that is often compared to Van Gogh.
