Industrial landscapes and architectural paintings by American artist Charles Demuth (1883-1935), a lifelong resident of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. From around 1915, along with Georgia O'Keeffe and Charles Sheeler, he was a major contributor to the Precisionist art movement, the first modern art movement that was considered really 'American'. Demuth's works often depict urban and rural landscapes, featuring industrial elements such as tall chimneys, water towers, and skyscrapers.
